ABC Audio: Transgender children: Human Rights Commission recommends removing court order

The Human Rights Commission says transgendered children should not have to obtain a court order to go on hormone therapy.

It's one of the recommendations of a major report on discrimination against gay, transgender and intersex Australians.

Currently, children and their families need permission from the Family Court to get medication for male and female hormones.

Transgender support groups say this puts unnecessary stress on children and their families.
