Editor's Note
It is always disappointing when misinformation, which unfairly stigmatises the trans and gender Diverse Communities, is pedaled by any organization let alone AIDS Industry Leaders such as the Former Victorian AIDS Council, without listing any REAL FACTS or Statistics to back sweeping emotive claims.

If you examine the very serious and extensive research provided on this website you will clearly see the evidence does not support this statement published by the Former VAC.

"Relationship and family violence within LGBTI communities is known to occur at the same rates as for heterosexual relationships, if not higher for some communities such as trans and gender diverse communities".

Perhaps someone can inform the former Victorian AIDS Council that the rate of Domestic Violence amongst the LGBT population is at crisis levels that far exceeds that of the Heterosexual Community.

The National Institute of Criminology figures show that just 1.8% of Heterosexual Man abuse their partners with 1 Man being killed every 10 days from Domestic Violence. Bettina Arndt, links on this website, highlights the fact that Heterosexual Female Violence against Men and Children comes in at a staggering 40%.

In terms of LGBTI Domestic Violence, all studies reflect the trend that Lesbians & Bisexual Women win the Cup for the most violent, with studies from the CDC and ABS showing their rates between 43% & 47% and Bisexual Women seem to get to a staggering 61% in some studies listed on this website. In constrast, Gay Male rates seem to be half that of Lesbians at 26% and Transgender People, in spite of much larger stresses and risk factors, come in at 31%. with Bisexual Men at 29% : ALL less than the "unmentioned" LESBIANS!

This begs the question, why would the Board of the Victorian AIDS Council specifically target the trans and gender diverse community for a public shaming? Is this part of an organizationally entrenched #RadFem [Communo-Fascist] agenda, (who in their opinion insist trans women are men), acting to cover-up the truth about Lesbian and Heterosexual Female Violence, in order to protect services for women and maintain the war against men and trans women?

VAC Relationship & Family Violence?

Relationship and family violence within LGBTI communities is known to occur at the same rates as for heterosexual relationships, if not higher for some communities such as trans and gender diverse communities.

Research informs us that 1 in 3 LGBTI people experience intimate partner and /or family violence from a partner, ex-partner, or family member, inclusive of family of choice.

Domestic violence against men has doubled since 2005 - ABS
The rate of men reporting current partner violence since the age of 15 rose alarmingly by 175% in the same period (an estimated 119,600 men reported such violence in 2012). The rate of men reporting dating violence since the age of 15 also rose by 140% since the 2005 survey. The vast majority of perpetrators of dating and partner violence against men were female - only 6 or 7 per cent of incidents involved same-sex violence.

MISINFORMATION ABOUT FAMILY VIOLENCE
Regrettably, while well-intentioned, many past efforts to reduce family violence against women have inadvertently used incorrect or misleading statistics‚ which unfairly stigmatise men and boys as violent and abusive, while simultaneously denying or downplaying the existence of male victims of violence.
